I talked with librarians this week about volunteers, and in particular reaching out to the community. The book fair is coming up next week so securing volunteers is essential to making the experience for parents and kids a god one so they can have questions answered and check out quickly.
Also, don’t be afraid to reach out to various other resources in the community. There are many elderly care centers near the elementary school where I work and many of these people are good volunteers. Having them come in once a week, for example, and check books in is a good way to connect with a different segment of the school zone population.
